Maclaren Globetrotter Stroller Review

When you find out your are pregnant you want the best for your baby. You ask friends and family what products are good. When I was pregnant with my son, I choose a travel combination stroller.  My problem was that after my son got bigger it was too heavy. I discovered Maclaren through a friend who had used it for her son when he was a toddler. We had to make a run to the store and I borrowed her stroller. That's when I feel in love with this brand. It was so light. I didn't know a stroller could feel that light.

Retail value $160.00

With my second child, I got the chance to review the Maclaren Globetrotter Stroller in Scarlet (Red).  Extremely easy to open and close and not heavy. It is super lightweight and has a harness so you can carry it over your shoulder. This comes in handy since I live in NYC and take the subway and bus everyday. I simply close the stroller and put it over my shoulder and hold my daughter, Ashley, with my other hand.

 Maclaren Globetrotter Stroller features:

  • Breathable Mesh Seat appropriate for children 6 months and older

  • 5 Point Harness with height adjustable shoulder straps for added safety

  • Handy mesh shopping basket

  • High-performance aluminum frame

  • 5 second one-hand compact umbrella fold

  • Raincover Included

  • Water resistant hood

  • Carry strap for easy portability

  • Square, extra large hood for maximum coverage
Maclaren Globetrotter stroller weighs 10.6 lbs. It reclines to 2 positions and has a simple step brake system in the back. This stroller is recommended for babies 6 months of age and older weighing up to 55 lbs. It has a breathable mesh seat making it cooler in the summer months. It comes with a raincover to fit this stroller. The stroller comes fully assembled inside the box.  I also put her diaper bag over the back of the handle bars.

As you can see from the photo above, my daughter is strapped in and has the raincover on. I love it because it keeps her warm when  its windy out and covers her all the way passed her feet. This is included when you purchase Maclaren strollers as other brands do not include it. Note that when you put bags on the handle bars the stroller will tip back without the child sitting in it as it is lightweight. The handle bars on this stroller are high as my husband is tall.

Things I didn't like

  • Recline button on the back was extremely hard to loosen and didn't really go back enough or sit up too much.
  • Straps after adjusting them to my daughter did not hold her in as she would take her arms out.
  • Wheels are small and would get stuck on the sidewalk and intersections that were uneven and had potholes.
  • Canopy not see through.
  • Raincover did not cover the canopy completely

Things I like

  • Lightweight
  • Raincover included
  • Easy to open and close
  • One step braking system
  • Stroller strap to carry
  • Canopy is bigger and extends further
  • Handles bars are high so I don't have to bend as I'm tall

Overall, I would use the Maclaren Globetrotter stroller again and again. The features on this  stroller are not found with other brands. It is truly a lightweight stroller and the perfect handle height.  The Globetroller stroller retails for $160.00 and comes in colors crown blue, festival fuchsia, scarlet, prince blue and black. Ascarium: A Pirate Adventure, brings a new thematic to the NY Aquarium  as a part of this season’s Halloween celebration. A range of pirate themed, kid-friendly, not so scary experiences will be part of this year’s festivities to continue the tradition of providing Brooklyn and area families with a great destination for their Halloween celebration.

Ascarium combines the fun of this iconic holiday with the NY Aquarium’s mission of connecting people to wildlife.Ascarium will run the last three weekends in October (October 13-14, 20-21 and 27-28).

This year’s activities will include:

Haunted Seafari; The Tragic Tale of Captain Paul Looter

  • Our ship explorers then head into the Briny Brig, where our deteriorating devil crew are paying the cost for their pirating as well as their overfishing the waters and poaching some of the seas most magnificent, and endangered species.  They are egged on to exit the ship and have a few choices…will they WALK THE PLANK to their doom  Or will they head ON DECK?
  • Walking thru the Brig Portal…our treasure hunters will find the deck of the ship. Finally finding their way, our explorers are dumped onto the seashore, where all is NOT well.  The effects of Looter & his slimy crew have polluted this craggy-rocked landscape. But it seems that Captain Looter has learned his lesson. His ghostly image speaks to us to let us know that he realizes now – that treasures are not in gems or gold, but the greatest treasure of all is the marine life and clean water that support our planet and it inhabitants.

Sponsor Spotlight Review Mia Mariu Mineral Cosmetics

Spotlight ** Mia Mariu Mineral Cosmetics ** Blogorama Bonanza

I have tried many cosmetics brands during my time. Some makeup brands make me break out in acne. Other makeups, after applying,  fade a couple of hours later.  Or they look like the right shade only to get home and its not the right color.

I got the opportunity to review Mia Mariu Mineral Cosmetics. I was a little apprehensive when it comes to purchasing makeup online. At times the pictures do not look anything like the products in person. But I so wanted to give it a try. So I check out the website and searched there line of products and placed an order.

I got my mail and opened the box and saw all of the products. I was taken aback as the products were the same as there pictures.  I started to get a warm feeling inside my belly. I received the following products:

Mineral Eye Shadow Duo Luna de Miel ($18)

Luminous Lip Gloss Dulzura ($13)

Products I received

Essential Brow Brush No. 12 ($19)

The mineral eye shadow duo Luna de Miel was exactly as I pictured.  It was easy to apply with there brush. First I applied the darker tint to my lower eyelids, then I applied the lighter shade to the middle to upper outer area.  I then used the brow and brush to shape my eyebrows and lashes. I last applied the lip gloss which had a real nice scent. All of the products were awesome. I love Mia Mariu make-up.

Before                         Make-up on                          Result

As you can see from my picture above, in the first photo I have no make-up. The middle photo is after I applied the eye shadow and lip gloss. The last photo is the result. (Sorry if its blurry it was the best out of the rest).

Mia Mariu Cosmetic is a line I would purchase from again. Here is a hint to my husband I want the touch up compact kit and supplements for Christmas  .

Follow Mia Mariu on Facebook and Twitter to keep up to date with the newest products and deals.

Review of Men's Ties from Bows-N-Ties.com

I had the wonderful opportunity to review a Tie from Bows 'N Ties. My husband was surprised when I asked him to open the shipping box. I told him that it was for him and he asked why as it wasn't his birthday. I told him it doesn't have to be a special occasion to get him something.

The tie was a pleasant surprise for him. I received the tie pictured above. My husband loved the tie and now that the holidays are right around the corner he can use it.  Bows 'n Ties carries an assortment of men's ties, cuff-links, and handkerchiefs. Each tie is handmade from the finest Jacquard woven silk.

The four ties pictured below are 100% silk by "Cavallieri". Ties by "Cavallieri" usually retail between $50-$60. But at Bows-n-Ties they offer them for just $24.90.  They can offer those prices because:

1. they import directly & there is no middle-men, and

2. they keep overhead cost low of not having a brick & mortar storefront.

.

Bows 'n Ties caters to all men.  They have a special sized ties for men who are big and tall as well as for kids. At Bows 'N Ties, they offer wholesale prices and have discounts on bulk orders. The best thing I loved about there site is they have a "How to Tie a Bow Tie" section and educate you on specific dress codes for a Black Tie Attire, Job Interview Attire, and Casual Business Attire for those offices that have a policy on casual Friday. In today's market when you are trying to get a job every little advice on how to dress is appreciated.

To stay up on the latest styles follow Bows 'N Ties on Facebook and Twitter. Just for my readers get a 20% storewide discount using coupon code "TR2339YU". The coupon expires on October 19, 2012.
