Wedding DIY Ideas For Brides On A Budget ~ Ceremony & Photo Locations

When my husband and I decided to renew our vows, we looked at many locations.  I dreamed of getting married on the beach, but the cost was too high.  We knew that we wanted to exchange our ceremony vows outside.  One day I took my kids to Flushing Meadows Corona Park.  I was walking by the Queens Museum and my eyes glazed over a Gazebo.  It was perfect.  You could see the famous Unisphere and it was open that everyone could see from many angles.

I searched online to find out how I could reserve the Gazebo and was able to get a permit through the New York City Department of Parks & Recreation.

I paid $25 to process my permit and the fee is not refundable.  You can go to the office in person, within the five boroughs, or online.  Note it takes 21-30 days to process.  The price for the permit did not break our bank and was on a budget.

Next, we had chosen several locations to take our wedding photos.  The Unisphere is a well-known area that has been in commercials and photographed. A picture-perfect spot to choose to take your wedding photos.

We both wanted a photo in front of the iconic Unisphere. This is my favorite as you see the rays shining down on us. My husband is a die-hard Mets fan, so we had to go and take a couple of pictures at the stadium. We also had chosen the Pepsi Sign in Long Island City with views of Manhattan, but time did not permit it.

Planning a wedding on a budget should not break the bank.  Finding the perfect place to exchange your vows is gold.  Wedding photo locations should be chosen together by areas you both love and compromising when your soon to be spouse/spouse wants pictures taken at his sports team stadium.  That is love.

  6. That is awesome that you renewed your vows. These are great ideas. I have a friend that is getting married in May and she is doing all her own decorations and flowers. Unlike me, she is very talented and can pull that off.
