USING COLORS TO DECLUTTER

You can use colors to declutter!  Do you know where to start? You first need to remove your clothing out of your closet and/or drawer. Next, separate your clothes into a pile of keep, donate, and trash. I know this has been on your to-do list because it has been on mine. With COVID-19 it finally was possible since we were all home.

There are many videos online that show you how to fold better, to make extra space. As well as, holding your stuff and seeing if it brings you joy. I have become obsessed with decluttering using colors. Have you heard of ROY G. BIV? It is another way say Red, Orange, Yellow, Green,   Indigo and, VioletBetween these colors, you have hues of lighter shades.

Using color makes you remember where everything goes. It sparks inspiration when you see all the color variations within a hue.

Coordinating your attire is easier. You can find your pants, skirts, and a matching top. You know where everything is, and it will spark joy when you open your closet.

It has become my #ZEN. Simply put it is pleasing to the eye.

Tip #1

Get slim hangers. This will appeal to the eye and be orderly. Plus it makes more closet space.

Tip #2

Pick one area to declutter and take your time. If you feel overwhelmed, #STOP!!!  Take a 5-10-minute break and then resume.

Start taking all your clothes out of your closet and/or  drawer.  Make sure you group all your colors together. Next, sort each color into categories. All short sleeves, long sleeves, skirts, pants grouped together. Fold and put back using ROY GBIV.

Tip #3

If you are not using the clothes or appliances in your home, get rid of it. You are not going to start using it more by shoving it in your closet. Or leaving it on your counter to use one day.

When you start to declutter your home, you feel at peace. It’s a calming Zen effect. You make sure everything has a place and is labeled. When you are done color matching all your stuff, you will have your Ah-Ha moment as Oprah Winfrey says. Take before and after pictures. Staying organized should not be hard as you keep at it little by little. This motivation will jumpstart you to other parts of your home.

Tips To Finding Hidden Money During Trying Times

Have you been looking for ways to make money during COVID-19?   Everyone is struggling right now due to this virus. In this post, I will be sharing tips on how to find hidden money. Yes, you read that right.  Hidden money that you can claim and items that you can sell.

Tip 1

Every state has an unclaimed property/funds that you can check online. Just go online and type "Unclaimed Property in (STATE)NY or PA/FL/CA/HI whichever state you have resided in or currently reside.  A website will open, and you put in your information and see what pops up. For women, remember to use your maiden name and then type again using your married name.  You will be surprised by what appears that you were not waiting for.  If you have lived in multiple states check these sites Missingmoney.com and Unclaimed.org  I suggest just to put your name and omit the state and see what opens up.

As you see above, I checked Missingmoney.com. This site is good as it shows you money for more than one state. It will show your name and any address that you have lived.  Note, each state is different as some show a range for an amount while others do not. Once you make a claim, you will get an email with instructions on providing documentation.  Since offices are currently closed it is done online and/or via regular mail. You will be required to show proof it is you.  I surprised my family and friends when I sent them links for the money they had and never knew.

NOTE ~ Do not respond to letters in the mail asking you to pay to find out what funds you have!!!  YOU DO NOT HAVE TO PAY!!! IT IS FREE!!!  I cannot repeat this enough. I helped a person out that received a letter from a company telling them they had unclaimed funds but had to pay $50 for them to process it for them to get the funds sent to them.  Why pay a company when you can do it yourself for FREE?  Sometimes the amount you get back is way less than the fee they are charging.

****Try checking unclaimed property/funds every 3 months.****

These websites are updated, and it is your money. Why let it sit there when you need it the most. The money is waiting to be claimed by you.

Tip 2

Do you have any technology in your home that you no longer use? Such as an old laptop, tablet, or cell phone.  If you said yes, then sell it.  This is your hidden money as technology sells. You can make some money selling items on eBay, Amazon, and many more. I would check out prices online first before you post so you get an idea of how much it is currently worth. Then post your items.  Remember to get good pictures of the products. Also, remember that even if it is old there is always someone looking for used parts.

Tip 3

Have clothes, accessories, furniture that you no longer use? Sell them on Poshmark, Thredup, or Facebook Marketplace. Remember to be upfront with your description of each item. As I said above, get good pictures of the products. The piece will sell itself.

Have you tried any of these tips? If so, leave me a comment and let me know if you found any unclaimed funds or were able to sell your items and make a some money.
