Date night means many things to couples. For me, it means I finally got a babysitter and can go out for the evening. I know my kids are being taken care of and now it's some me time.
What is me time? It is that one moment each week or for some once a month that you can go out and relax with your significant other. Sometimes, as couples, we get lost in working, taking care of the kids, afterschool well you get it. The list goes on and on that we forget to spend time with each other. These are 5 date night ideas of things to do.
1. Dinner and Dancing
Here in NYC, there are many restaurants, lounges, and bars. I live in Queens (ergo Queens NYC Mom) and in Astoria, there is a restaurant called Don Coqui. They also have a nightclub with lounge. I have been to both.

I have recently had the pleasure of their delicious food in their restaurant. My drink is a frozen margarita with a corona beer. I didn’t like the drink as it had a funny aftertaste. I told the waiter and he came back with regular margaritas on the rocks. They were awesome.
We had a blast we booked one more with another couple. What I loved about this experience is that you do not have to be a professional and the atmosphere is fun. You are creating your own masterpiece. Go through the Paint Nite or Groupon website for deas.
3. Couples Massage
My husband and I take turns surprising the other with unique things to do. This time, it was a couple’s massage. Neither one of us has ever had a massage. I was on a massage table and he was next to me on the other one. The ladies came in and I had my face down and the process starting. I now know what kind of massage I like as he got us both deep tissue massage and we were in pain for 2 days after. Since we didn’t know what to expect I didn’t know that you can ask for the lighter touch. It will be different next time because now we know what we both like and it helped relieve some of the tension and stress we had. They had music and scented sticks it made it calming.
Sometimes we need a good laugh to lift us up. We all work hard and deserve some fun times too. What about getting a good laugh? We went to the Comic Strip in the city (Manhattan). We laughed the night away with a bunch of comedians. Laughter = medicine. We even got to take a picture with Angel Salazar. Known for his catch phrase “scheck-it-out” from Scarface and Carlito’s Way.
5. Boat ride
If you are ever in NYC take the Staten Island ferry. You can take it in the morning with your family and then go back at night time. For me, it is romantic with the city lights and the sparkling waters. You see the statue of liberty and the Manhattan skyline. It is all lit up at night and awake.

Hey my fellow New Yorker. You are absolutely right. New York is filled with places to go on dates and to leave your kids home and just enjoy. I am often performing with my band around Queens. Crazy to meet on the blog tip. Maybe you can come to the Fort Greene Park Jazz Festival next Saturday at 3PM in Fort Greene Park in Brooklyn. I'll be performing there.
