USING COLORS TO DECLUTTER

You can use colors to declutter!  Do you know where to start? You first need to remove your clothing out of your closet and/or drawer. Next, separate your clothes into a pile of keep, donate, and trash. I know this has been on your to-do list because it has been on mine. With COVID-19 it finally was possible since we were all home.





  

There are many videos online that show you how to fold better, to make extra space. As well as, holding your stuff and seeing if it brings you joy. I have become obsessed with decluttering using colors. Have you heard of ROY G. BIV? It is another way say Red, Orange, Yellow, Green,   Indigo and, Violet. Between these colors, you have hues of lighter shades.



Using color makes you remember where everything goes. It sparks inspiration when you see all the color variations within a hue.



Coordinating your attire is easier. You can find your pants, skirts, and a matching top. You know where everything is, and it will spark joy when you open your closet. 

It has become my #ZEN. Simply put it is pleasing to the eye.



Tip #1

Get slim hangers. This will appeal to the eye and be orderly. Plus it makes more closet space.

Tip #2

Pick one area to declutter and take your time. If you feel overwhelmed, #STOP!!!  Take a 5-10-minute break and then resume. 



Start taking all your clothes out of your closet and/or  drawer.  Make sure you group all your colors together. Next, sort each color into categories. All short sleeves, long sleeves, skirts, pants grouped together. Fold and put back using ROY G. BIV.


Tip #3

If you are not using the clothes or appliances in your home, get rid of it. You are not going to start using it more by shoving it in your closet. Or leaving it on your counter to use one day. 


When you start to declutter your home, you feel at peace. It’s a calming Zen effect. You make sure everything has a place and is labeled. When you are done color matching all your stuff, you will have your Ah-Ha moment as Oprah Winfrey says. Take before and after pictures. Staying organized should not be hard as you keep at it little by little. This motivation will jumpstart you to other parts of your home.

    Ohh this is such a good idea, how easy would it be to find exactly what you want when it isn't all a mess of colours as well I need to do this.
