For A Fun Place To Visit With Kids On The Spectrum Checkout LEGOLAND® Discovery Center Westchester

I have a child that has autism.  It is hard at times to go to certain places with our daughter. Finding fun places to visit is the easy part but with a child on the spectrum, it is difficult. Some children do not like loud noises, crowded places, and more.  However, that does not mean you cannot find fun places you just have to do your homework.

Searching online I found Legoland Discovery Center Westchester.  Both of my children love Legos. My husband and I have seen the Lego Movie many, many times.  There is something about Legos that keep little ones entertained.

We opted to go this past weekend during spring break. Yes, I know it would be crowded but my hubby is a first responder and his days off rotate, we planned our trip to last detail. We went at 11 am and I had her headphones if the noise got too loud and take breaks as needed.  However, we did not even use the headphones.

Legoland Discovery Center Westchester is located in Ridge Hill shopping center.  There are many stores surrounding it.  We walked up to the colorful building and took our first picture.  (Note there are times that it can be difficult to get her to stand still but that is how all kids are when you want to take a picture.)

We went into the first line to ride Kingdom Quest. Ashley was scared and said she would not ride on it.  But, after we got closer and she saw the other kids get on the ride she relaxed and said she would get on it.   We rode together and had girls vs. boys and who would win.

It was a fun ride that was gentle and not fast. You had to point the gun at the targets and shoot the bad guys.  My daughter and I won the challenge.  We take things seriously when we want to win.

After this, you go into Miniland. This area had Lego buildings and more.  It is amazing at what you can build with Legos.

We saw a baseball subway series lego with the Mets vs. Yankees.

The Empire State building including King Kong.

My favorite was the Statue of Liberty and how the walls came to life with the fireworks.

As we proceeded, we came to the play zone or what I would call a big playground for the kids.  It looked like a big tree house.

On one side, there was a Duplo area for kids 2-5 years old. On the other side, was a Cafe to get some snacks and food, a movie theater, and another ride.

This area was Lego Friends.  It had a television and a microphone.  A comfy area to just relax and sing.

Yes, that is Ashley singing. We headed to watch the 4D Movie.  We told her that there would be a little water and other things.  She was excited to wear the 4D glasses.  When it started to mist she was having fun and said she wanted more.

In the end, there was more water mist and she was loving it.  Sorry photo is blurry as she moves fast.

My hubby really enjoyed it too and he made sure he took a picture of his favorite Star Wars Lego.

We tried to get on Merlin's Apprentice Ride but she refused to get on. The height got her afraid and it was ok to skip it.

We stopped by the photo booth and got our pictures.

When you exit the playground we took this last photo as you enter the Lego Store on your way out.

We had an amazing time at Legoland.  You can have birthday parties here and Legoland has an Adult Only Night.  We cannot wait to return and would recommend it to everyone.  If your child is on the spectrum call them up and ask what times are less crowded. Purchase your tickets online to avoid paying more at the door.  You can choose what time you would like to visit.

Check out LEGOLAND® Discovery Center Westchester as they will be celebrating the release of the all-new LEGO® NINJAGO®: Master of the 4th Dimension in the attraction’s cinema with four supercharged LEGO® Ninjago Event Days on April 14-15 and April 21-22. Guests can join their favorite ninjas – Lloyd, Kai, Cole, Zane, and Nya – in their quest to unravel the teachings of the scroll and master the 4th dimension. Coming in 2020 is Legoland Theme Park in Goshen, New York.

Follow Legoland to get the latest information on events and more.

Come back on Tuesday to WIN a Family 4 pack to LEGOLAND® Discovery Center Westchester.
